Wall lining behind wood burner are needed if you go closer than the given measurements then heat resistance materials are required, heat shields can be metal of some description,  e.g. aluminium , steel , stainless steel, , masonry boards,  brick or concrete walls, all will need to have air gabs between the walls and the shields.
